National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) Awarded $173,000 Grant from Wells Fargo to Prevent Eviction and Foreclosure

February 18, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – February 18, 2026 –The National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) is pleased to announce it has received a $173,000 grant as part of the Keeping People Housed (KPH) initiative. This award, spanning from November 1, 2025, to October 31, 2026, will significantly expand the NFCC’s capacity to provide specialized housing counseling to renters and homeowners at risk of displacement.

“Our mission has always been to provide a stable financial foundation for those who need it most,” said Mike Croxson, CEO of the NFCC. “This support from Wells Fargo allows our member agencies to reach deeper into our communities, ensuring that families facing the threat of eviction or foreclosure have an advocate and a plan to stay in their homes.”

As housing instability continues to affect communities across the country, this funding allows the NFCC to focus resources on individuals facing immediate risks of eviction or foreclosure. While the program serves a broad demographic, it is specifically designed to provide a lifeline to Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) households who are often the most vulnerable to housing crises.

“This investment from Wells Fargo isn’t just about dollars; it’s about capacity, relief, and real-world impact,” said Milt Sharp, Program Administrator for the Keeping People Housed initiative. “We are moving the needle for families who thought they had run out of options”.

Through this grant, NFCC-certified counselors will offer one-on-one triage for budgets, communication with landlords or lenders, and the development of long-term stability plans.
