National Foundation for Credit Counseling® Names Peter Klipa as Creditor Relations Vice President
Klipa brings more than 25 years of experience in consumer lending and receivables management
(Washington, DC) The National Foundation for Credit Counseling® (NFCC®) announces Peter M. Klipa as the new vice president of creditor relations effective today. Pete was selected after a national search that identified a number of strong candidates. He brings a depth of relevant experience in the provision of credit, risk management and collections.
“Peter has a clear passion for the work of the credit counseling sector,” said acting NFCC president and chief executive officer Jeff Faulkner. “His demonstrated success in management, leadership and relationship building makes him an exciting addition to the NFCC team.”
Mr. Klipa has over 25 years of experience, primarily in collections and recoveries, in the utility, credit card and auto finance industries. Most recently, he was vice president of loss mitigation at American Credit Acceptance, a sub-prime auto lender, in Spartanburg, SC. Before that, Pete spent eight years at Discover Financial Services in its Ohio-based
National Recovery Center. He began his time at Discover by managing its collection network, progressing to the oversight of its network of 50 collection attorneys and 1,200 collection staff. He began his work in the credit and collections field at the regional utility NiSource, also based in Ohio.
He served as an officer in the US Air Force specializing in cost analysis at Hanscom, MA Air Force Base. He has a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Business Administration from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio and an M.S. degree in Systems Management from Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Peter will serve as the NFCC’s primary contact with the financial services industry and will provide strategic leadership and support for key strategic initiatives. He will continue to reside and work from his home near Columbus, Ohio but will frequently travel to creditor locations, industry gatherings and the NFCC headquarters in Washington, DC.
