Paul Weiss, Council on Member Affairs Member
Chief Financial Officer, Financial Guidance Center
Paul Weiss has served as chief financial officer of Financial Guidance Center (FGC) since August 2010. He’s responsible for accurate and consistent financial oversight of over 30 individual programs. FGC has served residents throughout the States of Nevada and Utah for over four decades. Weiss previously served as the CFO of the NFCC from September 1999 through July 2010. During his tenure at the NFCC, he was responsible for the accounting, IT and human resources departments. During his time with the NFCC, he also was the leader of the membership and meeting departments.
Working with members and vendors, Paul assisted in the creation of the counselor certification program, the online bankruptcy education program, members’ quarterly reporting program, and oversaw the NLL system, ensuring accuracy for all members. In partnership with the monitoring and compliance committee, the current member quality standards were developed and with the dues committee (currently Dues and Allocation Committee) the member dues and voting structure was created and is still in use today. Paul was the first NFCC staff person to visit a number of member agencies to ensure he knew the true needs of member agencies, traveling from Alaska to Puerto Rico and all points in between, listening and learning of the concerns of both CEOs and counselors.
As the CFO of Financial Guidance Center, Weiss works with the agency’s team members daily to ensure continued adherence to and delivery of quality services to consumers, while meeting the ever-growing administrative burden of funders. Since beginning with FGC, the agency has added an IDA, lending circles, utility assistance, and food security programs to expand funding sources.
