You are not alone. Whether you are trying to ward off a potential financial crisis, or just looking for education classes to increase your financial knowledge, consider contacting an accredited nonprofit agency that is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). Our certified counselors are professionals who are here to help. They will work with you to tailor a confidential, customized program with solutions that work best for you.

What We Do
NFCC Member Agencies provide financial counseling and education to millions of consumers each year in person, over the phone, or online. More than one-third of all consumers who work with our members are able to manage their debt after receiving financial education and counseling. Every client receives comprehensive money management services based on their individual needs.

NFCC Member Agencies provide a variety of free and/or affordable services including:
  • Budget counseling and education;
  • Debt management plans;
  • Counseling referral services;
  • Financial literacy courses;
  • Bankruptcy counseling and education;
  • Housing counseling; and
  • Additionally, one-third of our members are multi-service agencies specializing in community-based social service programs such as youth mentoring, foster care, and substance abuse programs.

A National Footprint

As the nation's largest financial counseling organization, NFCC Member Agencies are located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Accreditation and Certification
Each NFCC Member Agency is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) to ensure the highest standards are maintained as a nonprofit credit counseling agency. All NFCC Member Agencies must be re-accredited by COA every 4 years.

Customized Counseling Services
You are provided with a full range of counseling services and flexible delivery options. You can choose to receive your counseling in person, via phone, or Internet.

Certified Counselors
NFCC Member Agencies employ certified credit counselors that are committed to providing you with the financial education, and money management skills needed to make sound financial decisions. The NFCC is highly recognized within the credit counseling sector, and by creditors for its trademarked Counselor Certification Program. NFCC counselors must be recertified every 2 years.
